Since 1995, ChildFund has worked in Vietnam, helping children and youth to thrive.
Along with our partner, ChildFund Vietnam, we have developed an action plan to bring Cao Bang to a state of self-reliance. We call this our Road Map.
We are getting close to graduating from our work in Cao Bang, Vietnam.
By 2023, children and families in Cao Bang, Vietnam, will be living in a community where children and youth have their basic needs met and where they are protected from all forms of harm and abuse. But we need your help, now more than ever, to complete all of the activities and plans for children in Cao Bang, Vietnam.
Cao Bang, Vietnam
A remote, hard-to-reach area for children to grow up.
ChildFund New Zealand’s focus area in Vietnam is in the mountainous northern province of Cao Bang, and the districts of Tra Linh and Quảng Uyen. Reaching these communities is challenging because of its remoteness, but it is critical to improve the lives of children and their families, who are among the most vulnerable and marginalised people in Vietnam.
There are roughly 1,200 New Zealanders who support our work in Cao Bang each month.
Facts about Cao Bang, Vietnam:
Very difficult landscape to grow crops for farming.
Less than 20% of the land is arable due to the mountainous terrain in Cao Bang.
Access to safe water and sanitation is limited.
Less than half have access to safe drinking water and 60% have no toilet in or close to home.
About 1 in 5 children under age 5 are malnourished.
Growing children require a nutritious diet. Sadly, 20% of children in Cao Bang are malnourished.
